MATTHEW G. OVERHULSER MEMORIAL ENDOWED NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

The Matthew G. Overhulser Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship was established by his mother Karen and wife Taira in 2011 after his passing. The first award was given in 2012.

Matthew (Matt) Overhulser, 28, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away in a tragic boating accident on July 22, 2011. He was born July 8, 1983, the son of Gerald and Karen (Johnson) Overhulser in Eau Claire. He graduated from Memorial High School in 2001 and attended CVTC. He was recently accepted into CVTC’s Nursing – Associate Degree program for Fall 2012. Matt is survived by his wife Taira and mother Karen. Taira is also a CVTC RN graduate.

Matt grew up boating on the Mississippi River with his mother and father since the age of 10 months. He will be remembered as a kind and warm-hearted man. Matt was the first person to make a person smile and filled a room with joy. Matt was employed at Andersen Windows at the time of his death. He wanted to go back to school to make a difference in the world and touch people’s lives in a positive way.
